What is Child trafficking?

Child traffickers often don't use force. They trick and manipulate kids to get them to do things against their will. This process might take place over long periods of time, sometimes even years.

How can I help?

You can help by entering the Students Stopping Traffic contest! This contest allows you to use your creativity to stop the trafficking of kids in your community. Your idea could be

Even a small idea can turn into the winning idea that sparks change. We'll make sure the top thinking gets national-even international attention.

How do I enter? What's Required?

Kids can work independently or in teams to come up with their idea or proposal. (No more than 6 members per team). Submit your "traffic stopping" idea by December 15th, 2021 to submissions@studentsstoppingtraffic.org. Finalists will be asked to present their ideas (via video conference) to a panel of judges who will select the winning ideas!

What do Winners Receive?

1st Place:

One gold medal winner with prize money of

STUDENTS STOPPING TRAFFIC: FAQ

Child trafficking is a form of human trafficking and is defined as the force, fraud or coercion of any person under the age of 18 for the purpose of slavery, forced labor, or exploitation.

Child trafficking can happen anywhere, including the United States.

StudentsStoppingTraffic.org is a non-profit initiative and contest that asks students to use their creativity to submit an idea that can help us stop child trafficking in Kansas and Missouri.

Phase 1: Students sign up to join the cause

Phase 2: Students work to come up with their "traffic stopping" ideas

Phase 3: Final presentations for top three finalists

Phase 4: Winners announced. Gold medal winner has the opportunity to work alongside an award-winning ad agency, Intouch Group, to bring their idea to life.

The contest is available for students aged 13-18, living in Kansas or Missouri. Once you've signed up, you will receive contest information and reminders. Students have all summer to work (independently or within teams ) to develop their idea.

If you are a parent, educator, Rotarian, faith or civic leader, please help us spread the word about the contest. The more students that participate, the better our chances at stopping traffic and making a positive impact in lives of kids in our community.

Yes, you can help us spread the word to students in Kansas and Missouri. You can also visit resources to learn about other ways you can take action.

We recommend that every member of your group signs up, so we can keep everyone aware of contest updates and news.

Each team should be comprised of no more than 6 members. Also, as a reminder, please do your best to split up the work up evenly amongst your team members.

What should my final submission look like? We are leaving this up to you and your team, as we do not want to limit your creativity. However, your ideas may be submitted in any or all of the following formats: Word doc, Powerpoint, PDF, Video. Be sure to list all members of your team in your submission, so we can give credit appropriately when the winners are announced.

When and where do I submit my final idea? Final ideas should be emailed to submissions@studentsstoppingtraffic.org no later than December 15th, 2021.

All submissions should be submitted by midnight on December 15th, 2021. Unfortunately, there will be no exceptions to this deadline allowed. As such we recommend that you submit your entry as early as possible on December 15th to allow time for any last-minute hiccups that may occur during the submission process.

Note, you will receive a confirmation email once we have received your final submission.

This is ultimately you and your team's decision. However, we recommend dedicating around 2-3 hours per week from now until the submission date (December 15th, 2021) if possible.
